The Journey
From hurried to whole. From performing to becoming.
Experienced leadership coaching, born out of my own journey from capacity-driven
leadership to a settled identity, unhurried pace, and relational joy.
For most of my early leadership life, I was high in capacity and competency — and low in character. I could get things done. I could mobilize people, cast vision, build teams, and move fast. What I couldn't do well was slow down, stay patient, or truly be present with the people in front of me.
That started to crack open when my wife and I moved to India. We served as team leaders with Frontiers in disciple-making movements among unreached peoples. But the heat, the pace, and the friction of daily life exposed something I'd been able to avoid back home. I was task-driven and emotionally unavailable in ways I hadn't seen.
"What followed was one of the most difficult and most important seasons of my life. I didn't just grow as a leader during those years in India. I was remade."
Through leadership coaches, counseling, and rigorous spiritual formation, I began doing the deeper work. Neglect, unhealthy attachments, and family-of-origin patterns. Today, I am a different kind of leader — emotionally present, relationally unhurried, and genuinely curious about the people I'm with.
Additionally, my practice as a freelance humanitarian photographer since 1998 — shooting in 17+ countries among people in the greatest holistic need — has deeply shaped how I listen. Learning to truly see people across cultural divides carries directly into how I sit with you in coaching.

“I was high in capacity and low in character for most of my early leadership life. Coaching, counseling, and some hard years in India changed that. Now I help others do the same work.”

My wife and I have loved working with Joe! They say it’s difficult to see the picture from inside the frame. We thank God for Joe’s experience, patience, and overflowing relationship with Christ that has helped us to more clearly see ourselves and navigate this season.
Working with Joe brought real structure and clarity to my daily life. He also helped me navigate the loneliness of ministry—showing up not just as a coach, but as a steady, supportive presence. If you're looking for someone who can meet you where you are, Joe is that person.
Rather than simply giving me answers, he asked the right questions and helped me discover them for myself. That coaching process brought clarity, conviction, and ownership that have had a lasting impact on my life and ministry.
Joe brings real strategic and global leadership experience, but what sets him apart is the rare skill of listening deeply and pulling gems of self-improvement advice from your own mouth, rather than handing you his own ideas.
The simple act of slowing down to answer open and powerful questions has helped me focus on things related to my personality, habits, and repeated relational patterns. Joe is simply an outside observer to the craziness of your life and offers his assistance to help untangle the knots in which we find ourselves.
He has the rare ability to integrate objective professional strategies with profound spiritual depth, using prayer and Biblical truths to anchor his guidance in a way that was both loving and challenging. If you are navigating leadership transitions, Joe’s whole-person approach won't just help you survive—it will equip you for lasting growth.
Coaching with Joe has been an eye-opening experience. Joe has been encouraging, helping me see where my strengths lie and encouraging me to explore and take action. I always leave feeling supported, encouraged, and challenged.
It didn’t take long for me to realize Joe was serious about coaching and creating a safe space for honest dialogue. Because of this, I experienced so much growth as a person and learned I have so much potential to make a difference.
Joe is a kind, wise, and open-minded coach. He’s not afraid to discuss difficult topics and focus on truth. He continues to follow up and provide insight. Thank you Joe for all your wisdom and help!
